The Day – Legislative to INE Cancel 26 Judicial candidates for links with crime and low academic performance

City. The presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna and Gerardo Fernández Noroña, asked the National Electoral Institute (INE) to cancel 26 candidates for of the Judiciary because they are under an investigation of the FGR, for having links with organized crime and for not having obtained a minimum qualification of 8 in its average degree.

Less than a month after the judicial is carried out, the cancellation requests of these candidacies were submitted to the electoral body, who must issue a resolution in this regard.

In two of the three documents delivered to the administrative electoral authority, the presidents of both Chambers indicate that 18 candidates do not meet the constitutional requirement of eligibility provided for in section IV of article 95 and section III of article 97 of the Constitution, since they do not enjoy reputation, or “good reputation in the public concept”, because they weigh on them investigations in charge of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) or released members of organized crime.

The documents detail that in the case of six candidates there are investigation folders against him for crimes as sexual abuse; injuries and threats; peculation; organized crime; Apprehension orders in for crimes against health and for functioning as lawyers of members of the Sinaloa Cartel for the crimes of kidnapping against health, possession of weapons and exclusive cartridges of the army.

The six candidates who are under FGR investigation are: Alejandro Tlacuahuac Zitlalpopoca, candidate for magistrate in Puebla; Ángel Villegas Cortés, candidate for district judge in Veracruz; Noel Castro Melgar, candidate for district judge in Mexico City, Arturo César Morales Ramírez, candidate for circuit magistrate at CDMX; Jesús Karina Almada Rábago, candidate for a district judge in Sonora, and María de Jesús López Guzmán, candidate for district judge in Chiapas.

In another document, legislators Gutiérrez Luna and Fernández Noroña listate another 12 candidates for positions of the Judiciary who do not enjoy good reputation and therefore do not meet the suitability requirement, since they were defense lawyers of members of organized crime groups, because they granted undue to people who are dedicated to drug trafficking, they are accused of sexual abuse of sex against health or for forced disappearance.

The names they point out are: Fernando Escamilla; Jesús Padilla; Diana Monserrat departure; Julio Veredín; Aníbal Castro; Conrado Alcalá; Enrique Hernández; Francisco Herrera, Francisco Martín Hernández, Edgar Rodríguez; Andrés Montoya and Leopoldo Javier.

“If not canceling the records of these candidates, the jurisdictional function was seriously compromised possible conflicts of interest and obvious suitability to perform the judicial charges of popular election,” warn the documents.

Meanwhile, eight other candidates did not comply with the general average of qualification in a degree of at least eight, who seek to be magistrates of regional rooms of the TEPJF, circuit magistrates and district judges.
