Coahuilense present in horror film that will reach theaters

A fishermen’s tale is a that mixes fantasy and folk horror to tell a of mysticism, rooted in the imaginary of the Purépecha fishermen of Lake Pátzcuaro.

The story, written by Edgar Nito and Alfredo Mendoza, seeks to explore the ancestral fears that are transmitted from generation to generation through local legends, while raising a reflection on the relationship of man with nature and his own internal shadows.

The film arises from the research and exploration of oral stories compiled in the lacustrine areas of central . Edgar Nito and Alfredo Mendoza, who previously collaborated in Huachicolero, found in the history of “La Miringua” a unique opportunity to combine elements of horror with Purépecha mythology. The idea was to develop a narrative where the internal demons of the characters are intertwined with the manifestations of this mysterious entity.

This April 29 at 8:00 p.m. in Cinépolis Cuatro Caminos will take the film’s premier for our subscriber club members.

In the plot, actors such as Mercedes Hernández and El Coahuilense, Jorge A. Jiménez, who gladly chatted with the film's century participate.

"I am happy that this movie reaches all movie theaters, it is a large achievement for the director and all the companions who made this movie possible."

For the one born in Zaragoza, Coahuila, working under the direction of Nito has been wonderful.

"Edgar is a very creative and risky director. It is very clear about what you want to tell. A fishermen's story is a myth, a Mexican legend that many did not know. When I read the script, I became very stored. Although I love terror, I had never made a tape of the genre".

The film was filmed entirely in real locations at Lake Pátzcuaro, including the Pacanda Islands, Yunuén and Tecuena. The decision to roll in these places not only sought to provide history to history, but allowed greater immersion in the local community.

"It was an experience to record there. It was an unexpected trip, something very special. Now we lived closely."

Something that characterizes the story is that there is no protagonist as such, but all the characters are linked for various reasons to the legend of "La Miringua".

"They are different stories that never intertwine with each other, the only thing that unites them is legend, tragedy. It is very successful because they are different situations. It is not the typical plot that is based on a single side".

In his case, Jiménez plays a man who falls in love with a woman surrounded by mysteries.

"My role is just that of a very retracted and lonely man found to a woman while fishing at night. Something attracts her from her. He becomes an obsession. It's like a spell and I don't tell you more to see it".

The Coahuilense recalled that a fishermen's story caused a great impression in its premiere in the Morelia Film Festival of 2024.

"We did very well. We received a very important . It is very well achieved. I hope you see it and tell us their impressions on social networks".

On the other hand, Jorge was excited that he has had two premieres in a row in the rooms. Previously, he was seen in the rooms with total loss, which was made in the lagoon under the direction of Enrique Begné and the production of "Pato Safa".
