After a quarter of a century at the service of one of the most beloved stations in the country, Iván García announced his resignation to the radionic directionthe public frequency dedicated to amplifying independent music and the new generations of Colombian artists. He made the announcement himself through his Instagram account, where he shared an emotional message in which he showed both gratitude and pain.

“After a professional life dedicated to a station that has been my home, my school, my passion, I have presented my resignation to the radionic direction”, García wrote, who began his tour in the station as an assistant 25 years ago.
“I have had the privilege of growing together with this station, of seeing her become what has been thanks to the collective effort of a committed and talented team, and thanks to you: faithful listeners who have made radionic something more than a radio signal,” he added.

Similarly, the former director, who is considered one of the most representative figures of cultural radio in Colombia, explained that his decision was not easy and responds to deep personal and professional reasons: “I do it for my dignity, for professional and personal integrity, for my mental health and for the deep love that I have to this project”He said.
But beyond the emotional tone of his farewell, the moment he occurs is not less. Garcia’s departure coincides with a series of resignations and complaints in the public media system (RTVC), currently led by Hollman Morris.

And since Morris assumed the management of RTVC in April 2024, reports on internal discontent, cuts, editorial censorship and restructuring have been constant. In that sense, in his letter, Garcia anticipated possible political readings of his resignation and was emphatic in separating himself from any affiliation: “I clarify that this decision is away from any political flag, I do not belong to any ‘isism’ and my spirit will continue to be a rebel”, While the final message of his statement resonated as a manifesto:“ Radionic was always resistance, that which gave me the ability to respect, know and recognize whoever has in front, to understand that diversity is necessary, to defend the right to be and think differently.
