Winona Riders, In just over a five years, he achieved Jump from the smallest and under the world of mass festivals, the rooms, theaters and stadiums full.
A whole achievement for an independent band that took shape in a rehearsal room in the Morón neighborhood in 2018 and began to stand out at the Under’s scene barely ended the confinement of the time of the pandemic, after rehearsing and playing clandestinely, perfecting an original, risky and unconventional sound, decidedly alternative to current trends.
The group always had the philosophy of putting into practice its own rules and following its intuition, both in music and independent production. And they didn’t go wrong: today they have four albums and They are able to summon a stadium works for this Friday, May 9after having excelled in Lollapalooza, Spring Sound, Music Wins and Flag, in addition to filling Niceto, the Teatro Flores, Kónex and Vórterix several times.
With this bet, the Winona feel preceding and demonstrate that independent rock can still conquer important scenarios without giving up its essence, which is perhaps summarized in the names that appear in the back of one of the rock shirts of greater sales in recent years: “Stooges? Velvet? Spacemen?”. The name of the group and its face/logo appears forward: nothing less than a silhouette of actress’s face Winona Ryder.
Rumbo to your own stadium
Winona Riders is made up of Ariel Mirabal Nigrelli (voice and guitar), Ricardo Morales (voice and guitar), Francisco Cirillo (drums), Gabriel Torres Carabajal (percussion) and Santiago Vidari (bass).
Together, they are able to cross garage’s rock, neo-psychodelia and noise rock, generating Sound trances and visceral emotions with a powerful base, distorted voices and incisive guitars.

A couple of weeks ago, after making a merchandising inventory before leaving for a shooting of shows in Rosario Córdoba and Santa Fe, the group chatted with Clarion and revealed how to face this new challenge they decided in January.
“In these tour shows,” says Ariel, “we will try the modality of the works list, which is ordered by blocks.”
-How did it arise to play there instead of doing -For example- Cuatro Vórterix?
Ariel: -Medium that the idea was around like a ghost out there. It is difficult, but we would like to take the step because it generates sensations as the fear of the new. But that is the grace: to make the jump, if it goes well or if it goes wrong.
Santiago: -It matters to continue risking a little and forcing the band to continue expanding horizons. It is good not to always go on for sure.
-Ariel: -It is also good for people to see that the band is playing it.

-Did many shows in works before closing for a long time?
Santiago: -I did not enjoy it so much. I went once and I saw Franz Ferdinand.
Gabriel: -I saw Massacre in 2017 and then there were no more recitals. I just returned last month to see Garbage
Ariel: -Anyway, we also grew up knowing all the bands that played there, so you get a little knowing that and feels weird.
As they see the scene a bit. Now, let’s say, compared to the beginnings that you started prepandymia and well, then followed how what is now seen as an explosion of a new generation, although musically they have, that is, each one has their identity as it was before pandemic, the panorama that there were places to play, where we played.
-Did the growth of recent years imagined?
Ariel: -I think we felt something was coming, but on our own. Everything was much more spacing and there were not so many dates to play per month, but it turns out that the entire pandemic falls and that makes a lot of things be reflored. There was a move, but I was a bit … I don’t want to say “sleeping”, but little exciting. And that excited us! Then there were about three post-pandemic litters, with great enthusiasm.
Two albums together
Almost to break another rule, At the end of last year two albums came of Winona Riders. On the one hand, in November his third studio album came out, Don’t make me regret it, And on Christmas Eve they launched an EP with the English group Black Market, Duoton.

According to Ariel, “the first thing was the last, let’s say. But it was delayed and in that interim our album came out, so we took it out as a Christmas gift for people.”
