After obtaining consecutive victories for the second time in the season, the Chicago White Sox prepare for an important challenge on Saturday in their attempt to win three games in a row.
The right pitcher of the Astros of Houston, Hunter Brown, is ready to launch against the white socks after an excellent April in which he won four of five openings while throwing an effectiveness of 0.87.
Brown (4-1, 1.2 ERA) will try to defeat his third club of the Central American League this season after closing April with victories as a visitor against the Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals.
He released six innings from a race and seven hits to overcome the Royals on Sunday, struggling nine per second consecutive opening. For the recipient of the stars, Yainer Díaz, Brown’s domain at the beginning of the season begins with his control.
“That, and the results you are getting, give you the confidence to maintain concentration with your releases,” said Díaz. “We hope you improve every time you go to the field.”
So far, so good. Brown’s performance on Sunday helped the stars avoid a sweep of three games. In Chicago, he will seek to stop an alignment of the White Sox that has scored 15 races in the last two games.
“He has always had talent and has never missed confidence,” said Houston’s manager Joe Espada. “But now understand what is needed to be an ace.”
A victory would give the White Sox just their second series victory of the season and the first since they won two of three against Visitor Boston from April 11 to 13.
While Luis Robert Jr. connected a home run on Friday to extend his hits streak to seven games and secure his 500 -race hit, Chicago’s attack also benefited from the contribution of the rookies Edgar Quero and Chase Meidroth. Both connected two hits and combined for three driven races.
Quero is hitting .326 with seven races promoted in its first 15 career games, and has not blown while recently occupied the fourth bat.
The key? Maintain a simple approach.
“I just try to move with the ball, see good throws and embasate,” Quero said. “Especially with the position in which I am now, hitting room, when I have players based, I just tried to hit, without trying too much and simply embonsidered.”
Meidroth has a brand of 10 of 35 (.286) with a driven in 11 games.
Robert has an average of 9 of 26 (.346) with three home runs, eight ranked races and seven races scored during their hits streak. He has also received six bases per ball and stole six bases in that period.
White Sox’s right pitcher, Davis Martin (1-3, 3.24 ERA), will seek to obtain his first victory since April 11 when he received the call on Saturday.
Martin comes from a defeat without decision against the premises, the athletics, on Sunday. He dispersed three hits, gave two bases by balls and struck out five in six entries without allowing races, but the athletics imposed 3-2 in 10 inputs.
On Saturday marks the first appearance in Martin’s career against Houston.
Brown hopes to continue his solid career against the White Sox. It has a 3-0 mark and an effectiveness of 2.41 in three openings against Chicago, with 20 strikeouts in 18 2/3 tickets.
