The Junta de Andalucía has allocated 1.2 million euros from the European Funds Next Generation for the construction of a new home -home attention center in the line of conception (Cádiz). The Minister of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Loles López, visited the land where the center will be located, accompanied by the mayor of the city, Juan Franco, and other representatives of the Administration and the New Hogar Betania center, which will manage the space.
The new center, which will be built next to the main building of New Bethany, will have six residential five bedrooms, offering a total of 54 seats. Each of these nuclei will include two bathrooms, living room and kitchen, while the ground floor will have four offices and two workshops. The ownership of the center will be municipal, but will be managed by the new entity Hogar Bethania, which has been working on the attention of people at risk of social exclusion for years.
During the visit, Loles López stressed the importance of this project as part of a more human and efficient care model for homeless people. “Andalusia leads the change towards a more integral model that gives people the opportunity to recover their life,” said the counselor. In addition, he stressed that Sinhogarismo was a “invisible to pandemic” reality and thanked the team from New Bethany for its effort and dedication.
-For his part, the mayor of the line, Juan Franco, expressed his satisfaction with the project and assured that he will mark a “before and after” in the attention to the most vulnerable people. “Creating a more just and inclusive society is a job that we must do in a network, among all,” Franco added.
Begoña Arana, director of New Bethany, highlighted the need for projects such as this in locations such as the line, beyond the big cities, to deal with new social realities and contribute to a more just and equal society.

This center is part of the first home -free care strategy of Andalusia, which aims to reduce withouthogarism in the region through a new care and prevention model. The strategy, which has a budget of more than 60 million euros, is a joint effort of several councils of the Junta de Andalucía.
