London (EFE) .- The United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland, together with the US, urged Russia to decree “a high 30-day fire” with Ukraine “with Ukraine, before the trip that the leaders of those European countries will make this Saturday to kyiv.
According to a joint statement released by the British government, those countries that are called ‘coalition of volunteers’ support the initiative of US President Donald Trump, and are shown “ready to support peace conversations as soon as possible.”
“Together with the USA, we urge Russia to agree on a full and unconditional fire fire to create the space to negotiate a fair and lasting peace,” says the leaders of the four European countries, who will travel for the first time together to Ukraine.
It will also be the first displacement to Ukraine of the new German chancellor, Friedrich Merz.
Meetings with Zelenski
The Frenchman Emmanuel Macron, the British Keir Starmer, the Polish Donald Tusk, and Merz will meet with the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, in kyiv, where they will participate in a tribute in the Plaza Maidán to the fallen in the war against Russia.
Subsequently, they will participate in a videoconference with Zelenski to inform the participants of the ‘Volunteer Coalition’ of the Progress to create an Air Force, Land and Maritime that “helps to regenerate the Armed Forces of Ukraine after a peace agreement and reinforces confidence in a future peace.”
“We are ready to support peace conversations as soon as possible, to address the technical implementation of Alto El Fuego and to prepare a total peace agreement,” says the joint statement.
In the same way they announce that they will increase their support to Ukraine: “Until Russia accepts a durable fire, we will raise the pressure against the Russian war machine.”
“Ukraine must be able to prosper as a safe, protected and sovereign nation within its internationally recognized borders for the next generations,” adds the note.
