The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has warned this Saturday that Ukraine cannot guarantee the safety of those attending the victory day parade planned for next May 9 in Moscow.
“Our position is very simple in relation to the countries that have gone or go to May 9: we cannot be responsible for what happens in the territory of the Russian Federation. They are responsible for security and therefore, we do not give any guarantee,” he said in statements collected by the Ukrainian news agency Interfax.
Zelenski has warned that Russian forces “could have attacks such as caused fires, bomb attacks, etc., and would blame us.” “We have to tell all those who get in touch with us: ‘We do not recommend visiting the Russian Federation from the point of view of security and if you do, do not ask us; it will be your personal decision,’” he argued.
On May 9, Russia celebrates with a military parade in Moscow on Victory Day, anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany during World War II after the final offensive of the Soviet Union and its allies.
Different leaders from countries related to Moscow are traditionally attended. In fact, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has ordered three days of truce on the occasion of this anniversary and has urged kyiv to respect her. Ukraine has responded counter -facing an indefinite fire without conditions.
