world champion in four different divisions and undisputed king in two categories, Naoya Inoue already has a career full of achievements at his newly completed 32 years, but goes for more challenges. This Sunday, the Japanese exposes his supermosca world champion crowns against Ramón Cárdenas, in a fight that does not seem to be a great sports challenge but a commercial one: it is his most important landing outside of Japan as a superstar of boxing.
Inoue (29-0, 26 kos) will make his fifth fight outside his country when facing Cárdenas in Las Vegas, but in the previous three he made in the United States, or when he fought in Scotland in 2019, his name did not have the impact he generates today as one of the best in the world pounds per pound.
The Japanese knockout machine already has its following challenges diagrammed: a unification with former Olympic Medallist Murodjon Akhmadaliev (Ambo interim champion) in Tokyo in September, a fight against Nick Ball to be a world weight champion at the end of the year and the expected clash against his compatriot along with Nakatani, world champion Gallo, in 2026.

Cárdenas (26-1, 14 kos), meanwhile, will try to ruin all those plans giving one of the greatest surprises of recent years. The Mexico American, who in the last year knocked out Israel Rodríguez and Jesús Ramírez and won by unanimous decision Bryan Acosta, has his first opportunity to fight for a world title and nothing more and nothing less than for an undisputed championship against a superstar.
