Comprís Almassora has promoted a proposal to the Plenary of the City Council to claim the Consell the reinforcement of the interurban bus lines, especially the line that connects Almassora with Castelló, “in the face of the unsustainable situation of a public transport service that has been outdated for decades and that is not up to the municipality of more than 30,000 inhabitants,” explains the mayor and provincial deputy, David Guardiola. The proposal has had the majority support of all municipal groups.
“Soulssora’s bus lines do not give the service that is needed in a town like ours. We have more than two decades with an expired concession and without solutions. We must act already, and that is why we ask the Consell an immediate reinforcement as long as this concession is not renewed,” he said.
In addition to this demand, Compromís has also achieved the unanimity of the plenary to improve the urban bus service, which is direct competition of the City Council. Among the approved measures are: reinforce the connections with the train station; Improve frequencies to the Maritime District, where more than 3,000 people live; and introduce services on holidays and night services during the times of parties.
Finally, Compromís has put the table the need to study transport models on demand, especially to meet the needs of the Santa Quitèria area and, again, of the Maritime District, two areas with stable population but with serious shortcomings in the connection with the rest of the municipality. “With this plenary agreement we take a step forward for a more efficient transport, more fair and thought for people. Now we hope that the competent administrations act with the speed that the situation requires,” says Guardiola.
