Geneva, May 1 (EFE) .- The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, asked the Israeli authorities on Thursday “and who can still get into reason” that raise the brutal blockade to humanitarian aid in Gaza, which lasts since March 2.
“Let the humanitarians save lives,” Fletcher said in a statement where he recalled that according to Israel International Law, as an occupying power, he must allow the entry of humanitarian aid and help “should never be used as a currency.”
“Blocking the help kills civilians, leaves them without basic medical attention, snatches dignity and hope and imposes cruel collective punishment,” Fletcher said.
The UN humanitarian coordinator also regretted that the international community could not be mobilized enough to avoid “this injustice.”
“The humanitarian movement is independent, impartial and neutral. We believe that all civilians deserve equally protected and continue to save as many lives as we can, despite the risks,” he said. EFE
