“Anticipating the cold is fundamental. We want everyone to have a safe and warm place to spend the night. Here they will not only find a roof and food, but also the opportunity to receive assistance and rebuild their lives.” In this way, governor Gustavo Sáenz referred to Hogar de Noche for people in street situations that will be operational from tonight from 20 to 8 hours.
Together with the mayor of Capital Emiliano Durand and Social Development minister Mario Mimesi and Public Health, Federico Mangione, the president supervised the tuning of the facilities located on street 20 de February 231.
Gustavo Sáenz highlighted the articulated work between the different ministries of the provincial government and the municipality to put the home for the second consecutive year.
The Minister of Social Development, Mario Mimesi stressed that from the government he has decided to advance the opening of this home at night, for more than 20 days, responding to the needs of the people.
“This center is fundamentally destined for neighbors in street situations,” he added and recalled that last year there were more than 6,000 squares that were occupied. “Not only is it about providing coat, a hot dinner and breakfast, but also to provide comprehensive containment of those who stay there.”
He stressed on the other hand the work of family revinculation that is also carried out at home and recalled in this sense the case of the neighbor that last year could meet his family. “All this is possible thanks to an articulated and coordinated work between the different ministries of the provincial government and the municipality of Capital,” said the minister. “We work based on what our governor always asks us, that we are officials present and close to the people,” he concluded.
The Minister of Health, Federico Mangione, explained that health personnel were appointed to carry out the medical evaluation of people entering the center and progress in vaccination schemes.
He stressed that during the operation carried out last year several pathologies were detected and the proper treatment was indicated. “This year you will work with the same line of action,” he added.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Security Nicolás Avellaneda pointed out that “the role that is fulfilled is to protect and take care of the place, both internally and external. The affectation of police personnel is in three turns of eight hours.”
The home will open its doors tonight and will be operational from 20 to 08 hours, offering a safe and warm space to spend 65 people, both men and women. As in the previous edition, dinner and breakfast will be provided, in addition to personal hygiene kits, clothing and footwear.
The Ministry of Social Development is in charge of providing daily dinner, furniture, bedding, kitchen and hygiene utensils, and clothing.
For its part, the Ministry of Security and Justice will guarantee the presence of police personnel inside and outside the building to provide security. The Ministry of Public Health will carry out health controls and offer the vaccination corresponding to those who attend the shelter.
An important novelty is the anticipation of home opening, which was usually made at the end of May. This year, given the possibility of an early winter, it was decided to start the device from May 5. The capital municipality, in addition to giving the facilities, will accompany the shelters with a hot breakfast.
The community is remembered that can collaborate by informing 911 OA the municipal line 105 if you observe any person in a street situation, to coordinate its transfer to the home. Assistance to this space is voluntary.
In the 2024 edition, the home at night provided more than 6 thousand places and achieved an important advance in family revinculation, working with 40% of those housed (25 cases) to strengthen their ties and promote their sociofamily reintegration.
