Israel has evacuated in the last two days ten Druss Syrians for Medical Care

Jerusalem, May 6 (EFE) .- The Israeli army reported on Tuesday in a statement that in the two days they have evacuated Syria about ten injured Druss to receive medical treatment in Israel.

The injured, according to the statement, were evacuated to the ZIV Medical Center in Safed, after suffering injuries in Syrian territory.

At the moment, the Armed Forces have not made public the information about the Syrian town from where the injured were transferred.

This is the third evacuation that Israeli forces have carried out in the last five days of this Arab minority.

“The army is deployed in southern Syria and prepared to prevent the entry of hostile forces into the Drusa villages,” adds the note.

Since the arrival of the rebels to Damascus that culminated in the fall of the Bachar al Asad regime at the end of December, Israel has not only deployed troops in Syria but has been bombing some areas of the country.

The Israeli justifies these actions claiming that it has a commitment to the Drusa community “united by ties and stories with the Druss brothers of Israel.”

Nearly 24,000 Druss reside in the high Syrian Golán that Israel has occupied since 1967 and was annexed in 1981. According to data, between 40 % and 50 % of those of these Druzos have Israeli passport. EFE
