The government of Russia already has confirmed the presence of 29 heads of state and government around the world in the military parade that will be organized next Friday in Moscow on the occasion of victory Day, including the Prime minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, which in this way marks distances with the rest of the EU partners.
Russia commemorates this year the eighth anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany, a symbolic date that President Vladimir Putin wants to take advantage of surrounding himself with some of his main allies. The presence, among others, of the presidents of China, Xi Jinping, of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is expected in the guest tribune, Alexander Lukashenko.
An advisor to the Russian president, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed on Tuesday the provisional list, which includes names specially observed from the EU as FICO or the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, representative of a country that aspires to integrate into the community block. Ushakov has confirmed that both will be received by Putin, according to Russian official agencies.
The high Foreign Policy representative of the EU, Kaja Kallas, came to warn that the block “will not be taken in the slight” official participation in these acts, in a message both to member states and to candidates for adhesion, in a call that has not had completely effect.
“Mrs. Kallas, I would like to inform you that I am the legitimate prime minister of Slovakia, a sovereign country. Nobody can tell me where I should or should not travel. I will go to Moscow to present my respects to the thousands of soldiers of the Red Army who died releasing Slovakia,” Fico replied.
