The minister says they want to clarify the accident of the Cerredo mine and defends government management
The central government has defended its management after the tragic accident at the Cerredo mine, in Asturias, where five people died. The third vice president and minister for ecological transition and demographic challenge, Sara Aagesen, has assured that the Executive acted with “responsibility and agility” from the first moment.
During his speech, Aagesen stressed the importance of clarifying all the details about what happened and urged the different administrations involved to collaborate in the clarification of the facts. “The essential thing now is that families have answers and that something like this is avoided again,” he said.
The accident, one of the most serious registered in recent mining in Spain, has generated a strong shock in both Asturias and León, communities that share mining tradition and have expressed their regret for the tragedy.
While investigations advance, the Government reiterates its commitment to labor security and the protection of workers in risk sectors such as the miner. The authorities ensure that all necessary measures will be taken to purify responsibilities and improve security protocols.
