“I like to portray a woman who is antiheroin”

The Catalan actress has been in front of the cameras for two decades. In a moment, we talked to her of her protagonist. We have just seen it in the series I, addictedby Javier Giner, and in the Myocardiumby José Manuel Carrasco; And at the recent Malaga Festival he presented Breakfast with meby Iván Morales, which we will see in June, and the one that premieres now, This will also happenadaptation of the homonymous novel by Milena Busquets that arrives at theaters this May 9, in which Marina Salas (Cornellà de Llobregat, 1988) is the absolute protagonist. His character, Blanca, is one of those that the interpreter has been looking for since he started in this .

This will also happen is the trip that Blanca makes for understanding and managing the pain of losing a mother. But what attracted you to her?

There were several things that interested me in Blanca. One of them was to be able to count the duel from his perspective, which is totally out of the ordinary, is very unconventional and is also very little told. She flees from that pain through sex and pleasures, and it is through that trip that he finds herself and understands who she is. I really liked being able to tell how, many times, through the loss we found ourselves. Also the humor it has. He is a character that is accepted absolutely, in his weaknesses and in his imperfections. She is a woman who is antiheroin in some way: she is not a mother, she is not a good lover, she is not a good wife and has not been a good daughter, but she does not hide from that, it on the table and hugs him. I liked being able to portray such a woman.

That pain management goes from deep depression to greater superficiality. As an actress, how does that balance ?

There is something that has to do with the fact that in the end they are complementary opposites. I have discovered that in the most frivolous superficiality a great depth is also hidden, and that depression and apathy have a lot to do. They are the two sides of the same currency, manifestations of the same. He was very rich in that regard, because it seems a contradiction, but in the end they talk about the same and is very as an actress to be able to express it.

facing the project, is the fact that you be an author, a director and an actress who have given life to this ?

Yes, I did notice the imprint. A lot. I think that both Milena Busquets and María Ripoll have contributed very interesting and very accurate things for history and for the character. Maria had read the novel 10 years ago, when it was published, and wanted to make the movie at the , but could not. He has also crossed a mother’s duel and knows a lot about those contradictions.

We try to capture in the character of Blanca all his universe and all that contradiction. So yes, I have undoubtedly noticed that. I have very much thanked it, the truth, because I think that for this story and for this character it has been very important to surround us with .

Are more characters like Blanca, with all your imperfections, in the cinema?

Yes of course! Definitely! Blanca is a character that is accepted with all its weaknesses and that embraces all those imperfections. She makes all that trip and I am looking forward to and always praying to be available to get these things, because it seems very important to tell these characters and these stories. But, of course, there must be voices that tell them … and that begins from before, from the script and from production.

Do you feel that, in , it is difficult to find that truth in the projects?

I feel that in recent years you are betting on a truth and an honesty in the voices of the stories that are appearing. And yes, I feel that there is a need for honesty and really.

Also for the public, because that is being given more and there is no reversal. I think that falsehood and imposture are being detected in audiovisual and that there are more and more voices that want to tell their stories, which are more intimate and personal.

When you started, did you have the same vision about cinema?

My vision of the has been expanding a lot and has been modifying the actress and the woman I am. Above all, I have learned to link with the trade in a much narrower way. At I had an imperative need to be an actress and work, but I didn’t have that broad universe. Making a general plan and seeing the biggest landscape makes you enjoy much more and find yourself.

Is it easier to find that satisfaction in the than in the cinema?

For me, the theater is and will always be a place to investigate, grow and expand as an actress and, in the first years, I did feel it was my refuge. That bond is there and is unbreakable in that regard. It was also a way to legitimize me.
