Israeli Prime Minister Benjamín Netanyahu said yesterday that there are “doubts” about whether three of the hostages that are retained by Hamas in Gaza are alive.
The statement occurred one day after US President Donald Trump said that only 21 of the 24 hostages that were believed to be alive had survived. The news caused panic among the families of the remaining captives in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israel prepares to intensify its campaign in the strip, now that the devastating war enters its twenty month.
Aayer, the Israeli army launched two attacks in the center of Gaza, in which at least 33 people died and 86 were injured, according to Palestinian health officials. This offensive occurs days after Israel approved a plan to intensify its operations in the Situia Palestinian enclave, which would include gaza, keep the territories captured, forcefully displace the Palestinians to the south of the strip and control the distribution of aid together with private security companies.
Israel is mobilizing tens of thousands of soldiers in the reserve to carry out the plan. He states that this will be gradual and will not be implemented until Trump ends his visit to the region at the end of this month. Any escalation of the fighting will probably increase the death toll.
