The main Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea complained about the harassment they feel for Real Madrid and the club protested.
The referee of the Copa del Rey final broke on Friday by describing the verbal abuse that his son suffers due to the criticisms his profession receives from the main football clubs, where appropriate, led by Real Madrid.
Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea expressed his anguish to journalists after the television station owned by Madrid broadcast a video that allegedly documented its bias against the club.
“when a child goes to school and tells him that his father is a thief that is very fucking, he said of Burgos, with the broken voice.
“The only thing I try is to educate my son so that he knows that his father is honored, teaching him what arbitration is, that each one reflects where we want to go, I would like them to know, it is very hard,” he added.
Madrid replied that the statements pronouncements of the referees of the final against Barcelona on Saturday are “inadmissible” and requested sanctions for the members.
The Real Madrid TV video states that Madrid won 64 % of its matches arbitrated by Burgos, compared to 81 % won by Barcelona under its supervision.
An anonymous voice described him as “an incredible difference” at the same time that he questioned his capacity and showed images of his supposed errors.
The video was accompanied by dramatic music. He did not mention who opponents were in those games or if they were played at home or outside.
Many neutral observers have considered that the videos are an attempt from Madrid to press the referees before the matches.
In its statement, Madrid said that the videos are “covered by freedom of expression” and that the pronouncement of the members “demonstrate, once again, a clear and manifest animated and hostility of these arbitrators against Real Madrid.”
Madrid decided to absent both the press conference and the training prior to the final. Nor did he go to the official photo.
Discrediting referees
The club’s television has made a regular practice to broadcast videos discrediting the referees. It is part of a hostile advertising campaign that the club has launched this season against the referrals.
In February, the club sent a letter to the Spanish Football Federation by stating that the 36 -time League champion was routinely harmed by arbitration decisions.
He said that “decisions against Real Madrid have reached a level of manipulation and adulteration of the competition that can no longer be ignored,” added
Another referee who expelled the Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham for insulting it was indicated by some Spanish media to have business activities that meant a conflict of interest with arbitration.
The Federation investigated the matter before exonerating it from any suspicion.
De Burgos spoke along with the video assistant referee, Pablo González Fuertes, in the now usual press conference prior to the Copa del Rey for the arbitration team, an unusual moment for the referees to be questioned by the press.
González Fuertes supported his partner referee and launched a warning that the referees of Spain were going to take unpractified actions to stop attacks on his honor.
“We are not going to continue enduring what we are enduring. You do not have any doubt that we are going to have to start taking much more serious measures than are being taken,” González Fuertes said without providing details.
He added that he worried that the verbal hatred that the referees receive from the players and also on social networks could have consequences in the real world.
“I think we are wrong on the way because that will have consequences, we do not know how that message is captured and the day will come when we have problems. We have to try to give a solution to this belligerence environment,” González Fuertes said.
