The rivers reaches 49.28% coverage in influenza vaccination

The communes of Corral and Los Lagos are the ones that have a better advance, they are Mariquina, Río Bueno and Valdivia.

49.28% coverage reaches the river region in influenza vaccination, which is equivalent to 111,270 people vaccinated from a total of 225,795, according to what was informed from the Health seremi.

The distribution added that, in terms of communal breakdown, the territories with the highest percentage of progress are corral (71.51%) and Los Lagos (61.01%), while Mariquina, Río Bueno and Valdivia are the territories that have a lower percentage of progress.

The Seremi of Health, Ivone Arre, calls to be vaccinated before the beginning of winter and achieve the necessary protection to avoid the complications that influenza can generate, since this virus can cause serious diseases, especially in older people, young children and who have base diseases.

The target groups of the vaccination campaign are people over 60, pregnant at any stage of gestation, girls and boys from six months to fifth basic, chronic patients from 11 to 59 years, health workers and essential service officials.

Early vaccination is important and 85% coverage per target group, in order to achieve the flock effect. This effect occurs when a large part of the population is immunized, which makes it difficult for the virus to spread, even protecting those who cannot be vaccinated.

The vaccine, free for prioritized groups, is applied in all vaccination of the CESFAM of the region and the vaccination point located on the second floor of the mall, located on Arauco Street.
