In a new open letter addressed to President Gustavo Petro, former chancellor Álvaro Leyva Durán again expressed his doubts about the leadership capacity of the president, highlighting several incidents that, according to him, show a worrying personal situation.
Date on May 5, 2025 and sent from Bogotá, the letter mentions Erratic behaviors of Petro and its absence at key moments, which, according to Leyva, not only compromises the presidential figure, but also the stability of the country.

One of the first to react to Álvaro Leyva’s letter was the presidential candidate Vicky Dávila, which described the content of the letter as “the cherry of the cake” in the global discredit of the government of Gustavo Petro.
In his statements, Dávila said that, despite the seriousness of the matter, “nothing will happen”, and emphasized that it is “a national state and security issue.”
To the above Dávila added: “Necessary and urgent -Gerantizar that Petro and its thieves’ court leave on August 7, 26. -a shock plan to reactivate the economy, recover security and public order and the health system. The representative to the Chamber of the Democratic Center, Andrés Forero also reacted to the new Álvaro Leyva letter remembering the content of the previous one. Forero commented that this time “he ran out of family alibi.”

However, not only the contradictors to the current public administration of the country reacted to the new letter shared by the ex -chancellor in their social networks. Since María José Pizarro, senator of the government coalition, the historical pact made a message about it criticizing said letter.
“The letter of Álvaro Leyva only degrades the political debate and is an attack on legitimacy and presidential investiture. Questionable that the dignity of a former minister is dragged to this denigrating behavior, the worst, every word is a tacit call to the announced soft blow by the heirs of the most rancid national oligarchy,” said Pizarro.
