The Municipality of Copiapó, through its Health Directorate and Cesfam Juan Martínez, will carry out the Alzheimer’s preventive workshop “Mental Tuning”. The day will deliver important cognitive strategies to reduce the risk of suffering from this disease that mainly affects the elderly, but that can begin to prevent from an early stages of adulthood.
The director of Municipal Health, Iván Apurahal, extended the invitation to the entire community and pointed out “following the guidelines indicated by our mayor Maglio Cicardini, to bring information closer and promote health from a preventive perspective, we are carrying out this workshop that is a great opportunity to learn tools that help us take care of our brain from now on and thus improve our quality of life in the future. workshop”.
“This is a very complex disease, where brain cells are damaging and dying little by little. It affects logical thinking, language and prevents performing daily tasks. Alzheimer’s has no cure and worsens slowly over time, is very terrible for families and of course, for those who suffer and lose their independence,” added the director.
The workshop will be held this Friday, April 25 at 09:15 hours at the Atacama Cultural Center. The call is open to the entire community and will have the participation of professionals from the health area, who will investigate the risk factors and their possible modification, the importance of food and exercise for brain health, cognitive stimulation techniques to strengthen the mind, among other important conditions of this chronic neurodegenerative disease.
In addition, a space for dialogue and doubts will be generated, allowing attendees to share their experiences, learn actively and strengthen their support network. The activity not only seeks to inform, but also motivate and influence a change in habits that promote a better long -term quality of life.
