Havana, APR 24 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, paid tribute to Cuban journalist Max Lesnik today, regarding the transfer of his remains to this capital.
A hug to the family of Max Lesnik, whose ashes are finally in his homeland, wrote the head of state in X, after the funeral honors of the outstanding revolutionary at the site of his eternal rest were made: the Garden Mother Teresa of Calcuta of the Minor Basilica of the San Francisco de Asís convent, in Havana Vieja.
Díaz-Canel stressed that Lesnik, who died last March in Miami, United States, at the age of 94, fought all his life for Cuba “facing misunderstandings and risks of all kinds, including terrorist attacks.”
This Wednesday the remains of Max Lesnik (Camajuaní, Villa Clara, September 8, 1930 – Miami, Florida, March 8, 2025) were deposited together with those of his wife, Miriam Graciela, and a tribute was made that had floral offerings in the name of the Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and of President Miguel Díaz -Canel.
Vivian Lesnik, daughter of the outstanding journalist, director of Radio Miami and founder of the Martian Alliance, thanked the tribute made to his father, who resided in the United States from 1961 until his death and always encouraged the approach between the two countries.
