Saudi Arabia seeks to contain the climb of tensions between India and Pakistan after the bloody attack on Tuesday in Kashmir, a high Saudi leader told AFP Friday.
The attack caused the death of 26 tourists in the town of Pahalgam, in Kashmir, a territory divided between India and Pakistan since its independence in 1947.
Since then, tensions have increased between the two nuclear powers that demand the total sovereignty of the territory.
The Indian Army and the Pakistani exchanged shots on both sides of the control line [LOC por sus siglas en inglés]Cashmiro’s de facto border, official sources reported Friday.

Nueva Delhi held Islamabad for Tuesday’s attack, but he denied it immediately.

Saudi Arabia tries to mediate on several fronts. In February, he hosted conversations between senior US and Russian officials to relaunch their relations. He also hosted conversations about the war in Sudan and about the border dispute between Lebanon and Syria.
