Havana, Apr 25 (EFE) .- The International Dance Festival in Urban Landscapes, which brings together artists from Bulgaria, China, Spain, Mexico and Cuba, opened its 29th edition on Friday with a show presented in the Plaza de Armas of the Historic Center of Havana.
Mexico, the country with the largest delegation of dance companies, debuted in the opening with the vigilant works of the city, of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center, Antigone or the election, by Nemian scenic dance, a group that also presented without excuses and the words behind the flowers.
On the opening day, the Visual Arts Center hosted the projection of the film Duels, by the Swedish director Jonas Ker-lund, and the video-sound sample of looks.
The cultural event program will extend its calendar until next Sunday 27 with a variety of activities that in addition to bringing dance to Havana streets include theater, cinema and music.
Among them stands out the Bella Plaza initiative, in the Plaza Vieja Habanera, a music and dance show in charge of the Plaza Viva project.
For three days, squares, streets and patrimonial corners of Havana Vieja will be the scenarios where dance groups will be inserted in the urban environment, as part of the festival for art in motion as a way to activate public spaces and connect with the community.
Its organizers have explained that this year’s proposal is focused on highlighting the artistic and cultural heritage that the historic center of the Cuban capital keeps, as well as motivating dance companies to the choreographic creation inspired by the architectural spaces where the festival takes place.
