Virginia Giuffre, one of the main complainants of the sexual abuse of Jeffrey Epstein who also accused Prince Andrés, died for suicide at age 41.
Giuffre passed away in the city of Dutegabby, in Australia, where he lived for years, the family confirmed to the BBC this Saturday.
“With a deeply broken heart, we announced Virginia’s death in her farm in Western Australia,” the family said in a statement.
The statement explains that “he committed suicide after being a victim of sexual abuse and human trafficking throughout his life,” he added.
The activist born in Florida with dual American and Australian nationality “was a tireless warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and human trafficking. It was the light that encouraged so many survivors,” according to the text.
“In the end, the cost of abuse is so high that for Virginia it became unbearable,” he concludes.
The demands to Epstein and Prince Andrés
Giuffre was a key figure in the cases that led to the condemnation of Ghislaine Maxwell, who was a couple and partner of Epstein, and the progress of other sexual traffic research.
Under the pseudonym of “Jane Doe 102”, in May 2009 he filed a civil lawsuit in which he accused Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell having recruited and sexually exploited her when she was a minor.
This was one of the numerous civil demands presented by victims of Epstein, many of which were resolved through extrajudicial agreements for unleashed amounts.
In January 2022, judicial documents revealed that Giuffre received US $ 500,000 as part of its agreement with Epstein.

The activist also filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrés of England, which was resolved in 2022 with an economic agreement.
The pact included a statement in which he expressed repentance for his relationship with Epstein, but without an admission of responsibility or apology.
Virginia Giuffre lived with her children and her husband Robert in the Australian suburb of North Perth, although recent reports suggest that the couple had separated after 22 years of marriage.
Three weeks ago he published on Instagram that he had suffered serious injuries in a car accident.
Giuffre was recruited by Maxwell in 1999 and, according to his testimony, subject to sexual abuse and traffic by Epstein and its surroundings for several years.
He claimed to have met Maxwell, who belonged to the British high society, in 2000, who introduced him to Epstein. He denounced to have been subjected to years of abuses of him and his relatives.
His courage inspired other victims to speak and contributed to expose one of the best known sexual exploitation networks of the last decades.
