Russian President Vladimir Putin told the American emissary Steve Witkoff in Moscow on Friday that he is willing to negotiate the end of the conflict in Ukraine “without preconditions,” said Kremlin spokesman this Saturday.
“Vladimir Putin reaffirmed that the Russian part was willing to resume the negotiation process with Ukraine without preconditions,” said Dmitri Peskov, cited by Russian press agencies.
However, the Russian President reiterated his demands on Ukraine several times: to control five Ukrainian regions whose annexation claims Moscow, that the kyiv government renounced to integrate NATO and that the former Soviet reflective demilitarized.
Putin, which presents the conflict in Ukraine, initiated in February 2022, as an alleged “hybrid war” of NATO against Russia, wants the security structure in Europe to be reviewed, especially with respect to the positioning of NATO forces near Russian borders.

The Kremlin said Friday that the conversations between Putin and Witkoff were “constructive and very useful” and that they served to “bring positions” between Moscow and Washington in numerous themes, including the matter of Ukraine.
Currently, Russia occupies about 20% of the Ukrainian territory.
