Venezuela intensifies immunization efforts with more than 5,400 vaccination positions – OPS/WHO

Caracas, April 28, 2025 (PAHO/WHO) .- Between April 27 and May 4, the “ celebration of immunization 2025” is being held in Venezuela, a special that aims to intensify that period the efforts that are carried out in the field of immunization in the entire territory.

This initiative is part of the Integral Vaccination Intensification Plan, which has more than 10,000 vaccinators and 5,400 active vaccination stalls throughout the country.

These vaccination points are located in public squares, institutions, comprehensive diagnostic centers (CDI), ambulatory and popular offices, and there vaccines such as BCG, hepatitis B, polio, viral pentavalent, yellow fever, measles and diphtant tetanus toxoid are offered.

Although the day is aimed at the population and anyone can go to be vaccinated, the main objective is to reach of greater vulnerability, such as children under six, -age children, pregnant and indigenous population.

Before the regional for yellow fever and the existing outbreaks for this in neighboring countries such as Colombia and , the application of the yellow fever vaccine to the population under 59 years is also prioritized.

Not only vaccination were reactivated in the 24 federal units that the country has, but in several states they include vaccination activities by house, strategies such as the Luciérnaga plan (Immunization days at night) are resumed and health goes to school and special vaccination days directed to the indigenous population and in the border states are made.

Under the slogan “vaccinating is to protect: the health of our children is the !”, This initiative also contemplates educational activities to raise awareness about the importance of vaccines in disease prevention.
