This Thursday, May 1, the Judicial Branch of the State of Mexico confirmed the ruling of Rodolfo “Fofo” Márquez at 17 years and 6 months in prison for femicide attempt in the brutal aggression against a woman in a Naucalpan parking lot.
However, a former friend of the influencer He went out to speak publicly and assured that the young man should have been judged from another perspective: that of a person with mental problems.
Who launched this controversial opinion was the creator of Hotspanish content, who in a video shared on social networks regretted that Fofo’s family has not intervened in time to offer psychiatric help, something that, according to him, was already evident for years.
“He is wrong, he is literally mentally bad and I don’t know why they are not treating him in that way in the circumstances of which they have sentenced him I think that at 17 and a half years,” said the influencerwho in recent months has also been in the midst of the controversy for his support to former president Donald Trump.
Hotspanish revealed that even before moving away from the young millionaire, he had already warned his mother about Fofo’s erratic behavior. In his words, he noticed worrying signs that indicated a psychiatric condition not attended.
“when I decided to depart was for a good, because they weren’t helping him with something he needed, something I told his mother at the time,” he said.
The MMA Amateur fighting promoter questioned that the judicial process in Mexico did not contemplate an adequate clinical evaluation. In his opinion, the right thing would have been to transfer Márquez to a mental institution, as is done in other countries such as the United States.
“Well in the United States when a person is wrong they do not go to jail, you end up in a place where they treat you with a psychologist, psychiatric, where people who occupy being treated are,” he explained.
For Hotspanish, it is not about justifying the violence of which Fofo was responsible, but to address the root of his behavior. He added that a sentence of almost two decades in prison will not solve the psychological problems that the influencer drags.
“He gave me sorry because his mother or people did not treat him … if he did not stop his life, he was going to treat him,” he said.
The video posted by Hotspanish generated a strong debate on social networks. While some users agreed that Fofo showed signs of mental instability for a long time and that he needed medical attention more than criminal punishment, others recalled that Mexican law does not contemplate the same considerations as other judicial systems and that the most important thing is that justice was done for Edith, the woman attacked.
