The technological giant Google announced Monday the launch of an initiative, baptized “Global news Gaps Project”, aimed at financing and helping new creators of informative content who are contributing to cover “gaps” of information among the public.
Google vice president for global news associations, Jaffer Zaidi, confirmed the birth of this program during an intervention before the Congress organized by the world Media and News Alliance (WAN-IFRA) that is celebrated in this Polish city since Sunday.
Google is paying much attention to a future trend in the information sector that star in “emerging news creators”, a group, said, very varied, “But particularly relevant for younger users and in certain parts of the world.”
“We do not know who they are, we do not know how they are doing their jobWe do not know why they resonate so much among some of the youngest users, but it is an area in which we have decided to invest, ”he confirmed.

In Krakow, the Google manager said that Wan-IFRA will participate in the initiative, the great professional association that groups the main actors in the media sector and the press globally.
“We are very excited about this collaboration, -What I’m not sure if we have already announced it or if, technically, I am announcing it here- but the ‘Google News Gaps’ project aims to understand this new ecosystem and also develop tools and resources to help them be more responsible in their work, ”said Zaidi.
“We will expand some of our existing programs to support some 300 of these new creators, and we are going to do all this in association with Wan-Ifra, which will also offer their membership services to these creators,” he said.
