India claimed to have attacked this Thursday “radars and air defense systems in various parts of Pakistan” in retaliation for the attempts of Pakistan, finally neutralized, of attacking several military objectives in the north and west of India during the night.
“This morning, the Armed Forces of India attacked radars and air defense systems in various parts of Pakistan. The Indian response has been similar and with the same intensity as that of Pakistan. It has been reliably known that an air defense system in Lahore has been neutralized,” the Ministry of Defense of India reported in a statement.
The statement said that the attack occurred hours after India’s defense systems neutralize several missiles and drones launched by Pakistan during the night against military objectives in more than a dozen locations located in the north and western India.
Most of these cities are found in the states of Rajastán and Gujarat, border with Pakistan, as well as in the Kashmir controlled by India.
“The remains of these attacks are recovering in several places, as proof of the Pakistani attacks,” the note added.
The Ministry of Defense also denounced that Pakistan had increased the intensity of its “not caused” shots along the control line, the de facto border between both nuclear powers in the Kashmir, using mortars and artillery.
At least 16 people have died so far on Indian soil as a consequence of Pakistani shots, according to India.
Moments before the statement, the Indian Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Abás Araqchí, who is currently in New Delhi in an attempt to mediate in the crisis, that India would respond to any Pakistani attack “with much, much firmness.”
India and Pakistan are mired in a large climb of tension, which increased after a series of Indian air attacks made early Wednesday on Pakistani soil.
According to India, the bombings were directed against terrorist bases in Pakistan, but Islamabad argues that the attack affected civil areas, denouncing the death of 31 people and 57 injured.
