This seismic event is part of the constant tectonic activity on the Peruvian coast, a highly seismic area due to the meeting of the Nazca plate with the South American plaque.
The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) recommends that in case of earthquake calm and avoid panic. It is also necessary to prepare a family evacuation plan, verify the exit routes and always have the emergency backpack.
Peru is located in the area called the Pacific Fire belt, where approximately 85 % of the world seismic activity is recorded.
