Lima, May 2 (EFE) .- The Ministry of of Peru (MINSA) has developed a mobile application so that health professionals can record the vaccination control information of people living in remote areas of the country, without the need for Internet connection, especially useful in jungle areas.

Through a statement, the Ministry reported that the application allows the information to be secured to the population and reduces its transfer , in addition to making possible the dose registration.

“We are proud to be one of the countries in the region of the Americas to use this application to improve information in immunizations,” said the executive director of immunizations of Minsa, Magdalena Quepuy Izarra.

He added that this project arises so that the population of the most remote communities of the country can be registered by the health personnel without internet connection and that this information can be transmitted directly to the electronic medical history information system (SIHCE).

“Just using their cell phone, it allows them to access the vaccination register, perform the questionnaire to know the patient’s health situation, access their vaccination history and record the vaccine or vaccines that will be applied,” he added.

The application has been developed with the collaboration of cooperation (GIZ) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

The Ministry stressed that this application is of vital importance, especially for the field carried out by the health personnel that forms the vaccination brigades.

This new tool is working in the pilot stage in the Amazonian departments of Loreto, Amazonas and soon in Madre de Dios.

In these regions, vaccination brigades work in remote communities inhabited by indigenous or native peoples, where there is no access to the Internet service.

Also, with the experience and suggestion of the brigades, this time technical details are refined that guarantee the proper functioning of the application. EFE
