In each step, a story. A mule that loads firewood in Ayacucho. A lady who offers hot soup in the Sierra de Ancash. A fisherman who lulls early in Pucusana. Thus he has walked Report to Peru For twenty -five years: without hurry, without stridency, without the need to shout to make themselves heard. It is Peru looked with respect and narrated with the heart, from the Tvperú screen.
On board a truck, with a camera that records everything and the warm voice of Manolo del Castillo, the program has traveled thousands of kilometers to remind us that this country is not only a postcard, but an experience. That identity is not imposed from the center, but is discovered in the accomplice of a child in the jungle or in the wisdom of a peasant who knows how to read the rain.

Report to Peru turns 25 years old
Manolo del Castillo remembers with emotion the beginnings of the program. “We started in 2000, without knowing or imagining what this project was going to become”, He says. He left the press to get into a car and start narrating Peru with his feet on the ground.“For me travel has always been normal, what I like. That’s why we continue so many years”, He explains.
Jeanette Fernández, producer of Report to Peruthis challenge has also assumed enthusiastically, although it is only in charge of production since the beginning of 2024. “It has always been a constant challenge. Because each trip must be prepared in a different way”, He says, highlighting the complexity of the coordination that involve the internal team and allied institutions as regional governments and municipalities.
He adds that the single episode production process can take between month and a half and two months, from the initial coordination to their issuance.
An authentic travel chronicle
From the beginning, Report to Peru It has been a chronicle without makeup, a travel chronicle counted with authenticity. “We count what we find on the way”, Says Manolo. Although technology has evolved – from giant teams to drones and goopros – the soul remains the same: registering deep Peru, everyday life, the invisible for many.
The team is compact: Manolo, a cameraman and three attendees. But on each trip the true protagonists are added: people. “The program comes out Bacán thanks to the driver, the guide, to the lady who cooks, to the Lord who has his burritos, to entrepreneurs … they make everything work”, Says Manolo.
Real testimonies: “I have studied tourism for reporting to Peru”
Showing the luminous face of the country has been the north of the program, says Manolo. “Sometimes the media show, I think that too much, the hard side of society, the sad side, the dirty side, the stressful side, violence. And I think that Peru’s report is responsible for showing that other face of Peru, the positive, optimistic, cheerful face”, dice.
The impact is tangible. Manolo remembers stories of people who opened hotels or restaurants after seeing their regions in the program. Tourists and young students approach him to tell him that they decided to study tourism or communications inspired by the program. “That live and live signal, staff, tells us that we are on the right track”He says.
Jeanette Fernández highlights the deep influence of the program throughout its 25 years of experience. It has been key in the promotion of tourism in various areas of the country, with testimonies of followers that are now dedicated to the industry or that have discovered Peruvian destinations beyond Machu Picchu.
Manolo’s opening and voice music are already part of the national television imaginary. It is not just a program: it is an emotional brand.
Challenges, learning and what is coming
Making outside television is not as idyllic as it seems. “Many people think that we are eternally on vacation (…) and of course, it is an enviable job, but it is work”Manolo admits.
Jeanette, with a year and a half in command, already knows that emergencies, delays and adjustments are part of the road. The plan for this year includes destinations such as volcanoes in Arequipa, in addition to new protected natural areas.
“A life is not enough to know all of Peru, we are missing many lives”, Confesses Manolo.
Within the framework of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary, Jeanette Fernández reveals that the team is working intensely to offer something else to their followers, especially through social networks, where they have always received requests.
“In a few days we are going to give them all the news, all the news“, says Jeanette. One of the most exciting surprises is that, in this anniversary edition, the followers of the program will be able to create their own Report to Peruactively participating and showing his vision on the destinations of the country.
“Report to Peru will not only be the report to Peru de Manolo, but also all our followers will be able to make their own report to Peru“Adds Jeanette.
Knowing true Peru: beyond its natural wonders
The program is an invitation to know Peru, not only for its landscapes, but for its people. “I always recommend traveling, not only to know and entertain you, but also to understand Peru, to know how Peruvians who live in a world very different from what we find”Manolo reflects.
“The country is very nice, with certain limitations, but people have to enjoy the natural beauties we have“Jeanette mentions. Underlines that Peru has many more tourist attractions apart from Machu Picchu, and emphasizes that only through knowledge and promotion of these destinations, the true diversity of the country can be made known.
From Tvperú, the state channel, this project has shown that public television can be modern, close and deeply significant. That can excite without artifice and connect without filters.
Because in each story there is a fragment of homeland, and in each episode, a promise: to continue telling Peru from its roots, with the feet on the ground and the heart on the screen.
