The bishop of Malaga, Jesús Catalá, remains admitted to the ICU of the Vithas Malaga hospital (San Antonio Park), stabilized, but in a “very serious” , as South has been able to know, suffering a septicemia after being operated three times from the bladder and the prostate since Tuesday week. According to the sources, the prelate is stable but its prognosis is still reserved. He is sedated and has crossed at times very complicated by the virulence of the infection that keeps him in this critical situation.

Catalá, who on December 22 presented his resignation to Pope Francis at the age of 75, the retirement age for episcopal , still remained in charge of the diocese waiting to be relieved. On April 22, he underwent a scheduled to remove a bladder polyp. However, this last Tuesday, the 29th, he was intervened again in the prostate in the morning, and in the afternoon of that he also passed through the operating room when his state of health was complicated. Since then, he is admitted to the ICU afflicted with an important infection.

Monsignor Catalá, born in the Valencian town of Villamarchante, has been a bishop of Malaga since 2008, when it happened to Antonio Dorado Soto. Previously, from 1999 until that year, he had been a bishop of Alcalá de Henares, and auxiliary bishop of Valencia (1996-1999).
