Tori thought spoke about the intense work and preparation that has allowed him to be selected as one of the referees for the FIFA 2025 ™ Club world Cupand said it was an “incredible honor” to be designated for the inaugural edition of the competition with 32 teams.
“We work very hard every day to have opportunities like this,” said Florida’s native, who was a referee in the final of the Women’s World Cup 2023 ™ Between Spain and England. “We work both in our sprint and agility with a specialized coach. We work with our sports nutritionists, with a sports psychologist and a sports scientist in our physical preparation to make sure we are ready and be able to raise our level of play.”
“For me, among these referees selected for the FIFA Club World Cup, this is an elite group, they are the best of the best in the world. And having my name alongside that of my colleagues is an incredible honor, something that I feel very proud of,” he added. “It is a testimony of the work and the quality we have put week after week in the field.”
“Now we are very focused on how our preparation looks, to make sure we are ready for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup this summer,” he concluded.
A total of 117 referees – 35 referees, 58 attendees and 24 video referees – of 41 member associations will be in charge of the matches. The competition, the most inclusive global tournament that has been played, will take place in 11 host cities throughout the United States, from June 14 to July 13.
As the only female referee in the team, thought highlighted the work done to guarantee the consistency in the tournament. FIFA has already performed seminars in Zurich (for UEFA referees), Buenos Aires (for Concacaf and Conmebol) and Doha (for CAF, AFC and OFC).
“For FIFA, we also had our seminars in Buenos Aires, where we worked as a group. All candidates could attend, and we work the technical aspects of our game, physical aspects, as well as psychology to prepare for some of this magnitude,” he said.
“We will have another seminar before the FIFA Club World Cup to ensure that all the referees see the game in the same way. What is a foul and what it is not, must be consistent in the games, only to ensure that the tournament is an incredible success.”
He also talked about the importance of being host of the tournament for the country. “(It is) a great opportunity to bring the best in the world here, to the United States,” he said.
“American fans are used to seeing many of these teams to play in friendly matches and pre -season meetings. But a competition of this magnitude, a truly global competition, will offer a totally different experience for US fans, something that no friendly can offer. And I hope that fans are at the height of the circumstances and come to join us for the World Cup FIFA “.
