Miami (AP)-Austin Wynns connected a home run, a double and a single, Brady Singer struggled eight in six solid tickets and Cincinnati’s reds bent on Wednesday 5-2 to the Miami Marlins.
Wynns connected a solitary home run against Dominican Sandy Alcántara (2-2) in the third inning. The receiver has nine hits in its last 11 appearances at bat, including two home runs. He stayed triple the cycle after promoting a race with a double in the ninth.
Singer (4-0), in its fifth opening for Cincinnati, allowed a two-run homer to Matt Mervis in the first inning, but did not allow much more. His eight strikeouts matched his record of the season, and only allowed four hits and no ball base before being relieved by Ian Gibaut in the seventh.
Spencer Steer connected a simple race driver in the fifth inning that broke a 2-2 draw and gave the definitive advantage to the reds.
Emilio Pagán solved with three consecutive consecutive in the ninth inning to get his fifth rescue.
Alcántara allowed three races with five hits in six innings. He struck out four and granted two bases by balls.
For the Reds, the Dominicans Elly de la Cruz de 3-1, one scored; and Noelvi Mars of 3-0.
