Sergio Pérez is currently in conversations about a three -year contract with the Formula 1 Cadillac team, but also has other options, as he understands Motorsport.com.
The winner of six major awards has been out of F1 since he left Red Bull at the end of 2024, after he has supported a difficult campaign, ending 285 points behind his teammate and world champion Max Verstappen.
“Czech” Pérez said previously that he wanted to give “at least six months to have all my options on the table” and one of them seems to be Cadillac, who is prepared to make his F1 debut in 2026.
It is believed that the American team faces the competition of at least two other teams for the signing of the Mexican, but that depends on the movements of the pilots.
In the event that Cadillac hire Pérez, he would be bringing someone with 281 large awards and the team head, Graeme Lowdown, has mentioned previously that this experience could be key.
“Luckily for us, there are a lot of good pilots out there, unfortunately, we have not been able to be on the pilot market until the entrance was confirmed,” he said in March.
“It is important for us to speak with several potential candidates. Do we see pilots with a lot of talent that are currently not on the grill? Yes, we see them.”
“We are going to be quite busy talking to some people, my phone has certainly been busy. What is a bit difficult, due to the situation in which we find ourselves as a new team, is that the deadlines are not as defined as usual. It is usually quite clear for all who participate in negotiations with the pilots.”
“But there is easily half a dozen, if not more, of candidates who offer very good credentials to be in formula 1 or to be in formula 1”.
The news comes before the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, where Cadillac will offer a presentation party in the city of Florida on Saturday night.

It is understood that Pérez will make a decision about his future this month and, In case you choose Cadillac, who could be your teammate is still in the air, since the team is considering numerous options.
Given that it is an American brand, the possibility of a pilot from that country has been considered, but when Lowdon was asked about it in the Bahrain GP in April, he remained cautious, hinting at that it might not be so since the first year.
“We will select the pilots for their merits,” he said. “Having a pilot on merits does not mean that he cannot also have an American passport. We have a lot to choose from.”
“But also, you can’t judge a F1 team just for what you do this year or the next one.”
“The team is here to stay. I think fans would love to see an American pilot in an American team. There is nothing that prevents that from happening, but we have to move on and select for merits and build a team, because there are some very experienced pilots available.”
“We could not participate in the last round of pilot negotiations, so we are not synchronized with many other teams. But that also has its advantages. There are many very good pilots available at this time.”
“When we form the alignment of pilots, whatever, it will be strong.”
