Phoenix (AP)-The Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor connected a three-run homer, Pete Alonso launched a two-run home run and the New York Mets endured at the end to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 on Monday.
Lindor took advantage of a Slider from Ryan Thompson in the seventh inning to shoot on the fence of the right-central garden for what seemed to be a comfortable 5-1 advantage.
But the D-backs closed the gap in the eighth, filling the bases without outs when the Dominican reliever Deniel Núñez walked to three consecutive in their first exit of the season in the major leagues after leaving the list of injured.
