Anthropic has launched a new search function on the web for its application programming interface (API), so that developers can create applications and agents based on Claude artificial intelligence (AI) models with capabilities to offer updated information.
Through web search capabilities, AI models can expand their knowledge by accessing current real world data, which offers improved experiences to users when solving their requests.
In this sense, Anthropic has launched a web search function for its API, designed for developers to create applications and Claude -based agents that offer updated information in real time when they respond to user requests.
This has been detailed by technology in a statement in her blog, where she explained that, when Claude receives a request that needs updated information or specialized knowledge, she uses her reasoning capacity to determine if the web search tool “would offer a more precise response.”
Therefore, if the model considers that the web search is more beneficial, it generates a specific consultation, it recovers the most relevant results, analyze them to determine the key information and develop a complete response with references to the original source, so that users can verify the information directly.
In addition, organizations that use these tools may control their use by creating lists of allowed domains, with which they can specify in which domains Claude can find and recover information. Likewise, domain lock lists can be created.
Likewise, through this API, Anthropic has indicated that Claude can also operate in agent format, making multiple progressive searches and using results previously found to base subsequent consultations.
In this way, the company ensures simple research generating more complete responses. In addition, Claude can also use these background capabilities to refine their consultations.
These advances have applications in sectors in which data in real time and specialized knowledge are relevant, such as financial services, which can create AI agents that analyze the prices of real -time shares or market trends. Likewise, for legal investigation, it allows to create tools that allow access to recent judicial decisions or legal news.
With all this, developers can choose to use this API to create AI solutions with Claude models that take advantage of current information “without the need to administer their own web search infrastructure,” Anthropic has pointed out.
Thus, the API is now available for Claude 3.7 Sonnet, the Claude 3.5 Sonnet improved and Claude 3.5 haiku, and the web search has also been incorporated to Claude Code.
