WhatsApp has incorporated a new function that was only available in the stories of Instagram: ‘Your turn’.
This tool allows you to publish states with an interactive label that invites other users to participate with their own answers.
When using the sticker, a topic, a question or a slogan is proposed, such as a photo, an opinion or an experience, and contacts can answer directly with a related state.
The function promotes interaction within the applicationgenerating chains of collaborative publications, similar to the dynamics that are seen on Instagram.
For example, a person publishes a photo of his favorite place to see the sunset with the sticker “Your turn: show me your favorite corner.” Those who see the State can respond with a similar image from their own location, adding to a chain of states.
This new function is available on both Android and iOS. The process to use the ‘your turn’ stick is as follows:
- Open the WhatsApp mobile application.
- Go to the ‘News’ tab.
- press ‘Add state’.
- Add the desired content.
- Press the stickers option located at the top and select ‘your turn’.
- Write the theme and press ‘OK’.
- UP THE STATE.
In addition to ‘your turn’, WhatsApp has added several functions that were previously only in Instagram’s stories:
Now users may indicate that they like a state published by their contacts just to play the heart icon which appears in the lower right corner of the update.
When someone marks a state with a ‘like’, the author receives a notification that informs him that his content was positively valued.
WhatsApp also added the possibility of adding up to five private mentions to the states. This means that only users involved are aware of mention.
You can mention both individual contacts and groups.
- Songs in states.
The function offers the possibility of choosing a specific segment of a song: up to 15 seconds if accompanied with an image and up to 60 seconds in the case of videos. The catalog includes from children’s songslike ‘Baby Shark’, even used by Mark Zuckerberg, to classic themes like Shakira’s ‘eyes’.
To use this tool, which operates in a similar way to Instagram’s stories, it is essential to have the most recent version of the mobile application.
Apart from the functions related to Instagram, WhatsApp has also added other tools such as:
- Create profile photos with AI.
If a user does not know what profile picture use, you can go to WhatsApp profile settings and select the option ‘Create with AI’. This function allows to generate a personalized image with the help of artificial intelligence, from a description written by the user himself.
You just have to enter a brief indication, for example, ‘a digital portrait with mountain background’ or ‘a futuristic illustration’, and the tool will create several image options to choose as a profile photo.
- Advanced Chat Privacy.
A function created to provide the highest level of protection to the content shared within the conversations in the messaging application.
When activating, it prevents other participants from exporting chats, downloading files automatically on their devices or use messages through artificial intelligence tools.
“In this way, everyone in the chat can be calm that what is said will not leave the conversation,” says WhatsApp.
This tool is available in both individual chats and group conversationsand was specially designed for situations in which sensitive issues are shared.
“We think that this function is ideal for groups where not everyone knows each other well, but conversations are delicate, such as talking about health problems in a support group or organizing your community for something important to you,” the company explained.
