A couple of weeks ago, a formidable news about the personal life of Rafael Nadal: Waiting for your second baby. The Spanish athlete, who retired from professional tennis last year, will repeat in the paternity of his wife’s hand Mery Perelló. After that good new one, the couple has appeared in an important public event in which the legendary extenist received a deserved recognition of their career.
On April 21, Nadal and his wife gathered in the Crystal Gallery of the Cibeles Palace, in Madrid, where the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards was held, a gala that brings together the best athletes in the world. The extenist could not miss this important ceremony, because it was awarded the Laureus award to the Sports icon, a deserved recognition of his successful career on the courts.
Before the gala began, ‘Rafa’ paraded on the red carpet with his wife, and although she did not posed with him for the photographers, that did not prevent him from being portrayed. Nadal looked very happy on his great night, which he attended dressed in a black tuxedo.
For his part, Mery wore an elegant long black dress, with a beak neckline and a transparent overlap. While Nadal’s wife opted for a sober outfit in a color that could easily hide her silhouette, inevitably her premumic curves reacted. Mery looked radiant when he wearing his characteristic wavy hair and trusted his natural beauty by opting for simple makeup. As for accessories, he complemented his look with a silver bag and a pendant.
In the appointment also were more members of the ‘Rafa’ family, like his sister Maribel Nadal and his mother Ana María Parera. Both looked smiling while chatting with other guests.
One of the most anticipated moments of the ceremony was when Nadal finally took the stage to receive his prize, which was given to him neither more nor less than by the famous American gymnast Simone Biles. As expected, after the long ovation in his honor, the tennis player pronounced some emotional words. “It has been a beautiful trip. I can only thank the world of tennis for what it has given me.”he said full of thanks. “Thank you @laureussport for a very special recognition. It has been a unique night in Madrid surrounded by large athletes and sports icons. Congratulations to all winners!” He said later on his Instagram account.
Nadal confesses not to miss tennis
During the press conference of the Laureus World Sports Awards, Rafael Nadal talked about his tennis withdrawal, a decision he assured was well meditated. “I needed time to know that the decision I made was adequate, I would have badly tolerated if I thought instead of being on the couch should be playing. When I saw that my body was not going to recover at the level I needed to enjoy the way I needed, I decided to stop. I ended with the peace of mind that I gave everything inside. I follow tennis, I don’t see barbarity, but the matches that interest me, ”he said.
