Madrid, May 7 (EFE) .- The President of the government, Pedro Sánchez, has defended on Wednesday an energy model with more renewable, compared to the model inherited from the PP government, which allocated 42.5 billion euros per year in importing oil and gas, “twice what we spend on unemployment benefits and eight times more than we spent in education.”
It was an “obsolete, little competitive and highly polluting” model that stopped foreign investment and the possibilities of economic growth, the President has highlighted during his appearance in Congress.
He has assured that in his government years the energy dependence has been reduced by 6 points and 60 % less greenhouse gases are produced.
As he said, the PP model implied “a transfer of wealth of Spain to the oil -producing countries of 500 million euros per year.”
In addition, he added, “he condemned Spain” to have electricity prices that were the most expensive in Europe, which resulted in the industry, households, small and medium -sized companies paying “much higher invoices.” EFE
