They threaten forest fires protected areas in Nayarit

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), through the National Forestry Commission (Conafor), reported in its report – corresponding from April 25 to May 1 – that 147 forest were recorded throughout the country, affecting a total of 17 thousand 806.18 hectares.

In the case of Nayarit, that period there were five accidents that consumed 451 hectares. With these figures, the accumulates 59 fires so far this year, which have devastated 13 thousand 240.62 hectares of vegetation. This amount places Nayarit in the ninth place nationally per affected surface, three below the sixth place it occupied until April 24.

The most affected states so far this year are Jalisco, with 43 thousand 393.72 sinister hectares; followed by Chihuahua (37 thousand 662.07), Baja California (30 thousand 096.23), Durango (22 thousand 486.5), Sinaloa (19 thousand 364.44), Oaxaca (14 thousand 512.51), Chiapas (14 thousand 134.38) and Guerrero (13 thousand 681.27).

This new incident is already positioned as the largest of the year in the state.

The second active fire is located on Cerro Colorado, municipality of La Yesca, also within the same protected area.
