The state government of Querétaro decreed emergency due to recent forest fires derived from the drought and absence of rain season
With the publication in the official newspaper of the State Government, “The Shadow of Arteaga,” the declaration of emergency in the state of Querétaro entered into force, Because of forest fires and the season of Estiaje, caused by drought in 2025.
The declaration orders that the Ministry of Agricultural Development (SEDEA), the State Water Commission (CEA) and the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Querétaro (CEPCQ) guarantee the human right to water sufficiently, salub, acceptable and affordable, and that develop actions aimed at the prevention and combat of forest fires.
To do this, these units must perform different actions, including, a massive dissemination campaign for awareness and prevention in the Estiaje season aimed at savings, water care, prevention and combat of forest fires, as well as its “timely” complaint.
They must also identify the areas and communities of the municipalities most affected by the Estiaje season, and perform logistics for the proper distribution of water resource.
Besides, They will have to carry out the necessary efforts, in order to obtain collaboration and coordination with the 18 municipalities, the federal authorities and the providers of the Public Services of Potable Water and Concessionaires for the fulfillment of the actions subject to the declaration.
The document also considers the generation of a diagnosis of risk and “heat maps”, the implementation of active surveillance operations in critical areas and the realization of community days of removal and cleaning of combustible material (leaves, branches and weeds).
