The Bishop of Jaén asks the faithful prayer to the beginning of the conclave that will choose the new Pope
The Bishop of Jaén, Sebastián Chico Martínez, has asked the faithful of Jaén to join in prayer before the conclave that will open on the afternoon of Wednesday and from which the new Pope of the Catholic Church will come out.
The 133 Cardinals called to choose the 267th Roman Pontiff will gather in the Vatican Sistine Chapel, where this meeting will be held, the most open and armored in history. They will enter at 4:30 p.m. and the first smoking, foreseeably black, could be seen between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The new Pope will only be chosen by qualified majority of two thirds of the Cardinal Corps, in which there is a Jiennense: the archbishop of Madrid, José Cobo, who is a native of Sabiote. In this way, 89 votes will be needed for the choice.
Given this fundamental event for the Catholic Church, the Bishop of Jaén has sent a letter to the Diocesan presbytery so that, together with the parish communities, they implore so that “the spirit of the Lord guides the cardinals in their discernment and choice.”
Therefore, it is recommended from the beginning of the conclave to organize moments of prayer, worship and other acts of piety to ask for the conclave and the choice of the new Pope, as well as celebrate the Eucharist using the form included between the masses and prayers for various needs, in the Roman Missal, with the number 4: ‘To choose a Pope or a Bishop’.
