Venezuela is the country with more refugees in Latin America

Almost half of the refugees and displaced in Latin claim to have been victims of abuse while fleeing securityaccording to a report published by humanitarian organizations. The study was based on data collected between October 2024 and January 2025 In nine countries in the region: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, , Panama, Peru and Venezuelacon More than 11,000 people surveyed belonging to some 3,600 families.

According to the report, Venezuela is the country with the greatest representation among the displaced population, especially in Ecuador (72.1%), Panama (68.6%) and Peru (80.6%).

The survey also reveals that One in four displaced families considers that their life would be in danger if I returned to their place of origin.

Refugees denounce discrimination and xenophobia

On average, 45% of displaced people denounced abuse their journey to a safe placewith more alarming figures in Mexico (66%), Guatemala (62%) and Peru (53%).

In addition, 38% of families reported having been victims of discrimination or xenophobiabeing Peru the country with the highest index, with 65% of respondents pointing out this problem.
