From the moment he arrived in the United States, Moses perfect the rose, he knew he didn’t want to stay. The overpopulation of New York City, the difficulty in getting a job, the high cost of living and even the weather made it proposed to save enough money to return to their country, Venezuela. His objective was hindered by the governments of the United States and El Salvador, who kidnapped and illegally distrust him at the Center for Confinement of Terrorism (CECOT).
Moses arrived in the United States on December 11, 2023, after a land journey that began on September 29. Upon arriving in Texas, it is delivered to the immigration authorities, who release it the next day and give it some documents so that it can establish and legalize its stay in the country, he told See newspaper His Perfect Emilia.
For several months, he made life in Brooklyn, one of the five (5) counties that make up New York City. There he worked as a barber and sometimes he made trips like delivery. These activities gave him few income that he sent his son of four (4) years in Venezuela. “His economy was not right, sometimes he did not eat because he did not get a job (…) how little he managed to do it to his son or sometimes sent it to my mother,” his sister recalled.
In November 2024, when Donald Trump is elected president, Moses reaffirms his family who is working to gather money for his passage. On January 30 of this year he was arrested for the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE, for its acronym in English) when he left his home with the direction of work and is transferred to Pennsylvania.
During his arrest, he maintained communication with his relatives with a frequency of once or twice a week. Each call had a duration of approximately 10 minutes and was paid by the family through an application. In this way, they could know that Moses was presenting health problems related to respiratory infection. His situation was not treated and after his transfer to El Salvador, his condition is unknown. In addition, he informed them that “I was eating very badly, the food was disgusting and slept very badly.”.
On February 25, perfect the rose is taken to court. The judge informs him that he could stay in the United States because he had no criminal record in the country or that he could be deported. Moses expresses his desire to return to Venezuela and on March 14 he calls his family to communicate that he signed deportation to, but that the flight could not go out for climatic conditions.
On the morning of March 15, he calls his family again and tells them that he is very happy because they are already going to Venezuela. «Our surprise is that we were waiting for him when we see the news that some migrants had deported to El Salvador and we didn’t know anything about him. The days passed, we imagined that I was in El Salvador and we learned by the media about the existence of a list. Indeed his name appeared, ”said Emilia Perfect with the broken voice.
He added: «To this day we have not had news of him or anything. We have not even communicated with them to know that they are fine. Nothing”.
Emilia recalled that US governments and El Salvador are pointing out to Venezuelan migrants to be members of the Trena de Aragua criminal group. In this regard, he said that his brother has no link to any criminal gang, or criminal record. He also explained that the names he has tattooed on the skin are in honor of his mother and son.
“Brother, resists”
The perfect Emilia’s voice is broken again when he thinks about the message he would like to send to his brother. After a pause he points out: «I would tell him not to surrender. Whenever we talked, I told it, brother do not give up that this fight is strong. Here we are, playing doors everywhere to free you. You have a son to fight for, Mom is waiting for you, she is desperate to pray. I am willing to give everything as long as it progresses until my brother is released ».
Respect human rights!
Emilia Perfecta joins the call that mothers, fathers and other relatives of the more than 200 men who are kidnapped make the US governments and El Salvador: respect human rights.
“To make them a trial, to investigate because they have innocent people,” he said.
He explained that “this injustice is leaving a child without his father, a mother suffering. What we want is that they fulfill their rights as a human being and fulfill due process ».
He also asked that kidnapped migrants be allowed to communicate with their relatives, in order to know their situation.
