Diosdado Cabello, minister of Interior and justice, confirmed on Friday, May 9, the arrest of a person who collaborated with the departure of Claudia Macero from the Argentine Embassy in Caracas. The journalist would have fled in December, before the operation of extraction of the opposite opponents at the diplomatic headquarters that occurred last weekend.
During his radial program without trick or morning, Cabello said that the alleged detainee was part of a band of coyotes that operates in Venezuela and that through this person they have been able to obtain information about other alleged escapes of opponents accused of crimes in Venezuela.
«I showed the photo when Claudia Macero came out of Venezuela. We have a detainee who took it out, who was a member of a band of coyotes that are here in Venezuela. He is stopped and has thrown us all the stories. He and others who were part of that network. We have financiers, carriers, etc. On his phone we find the tests, among that the photo I showed, ”he said.
Macero collaborators intended to do the same with San Miguel
He said that the same band that took Macero from the country also had an escape plan for activist Rocío San Miguel, a prey since February 2024 after being accused of being linked to an alleged conspiracy plot to attempt against Nicolás Maduro and other senior officials.
«They were going to get Rocío San Miguel out of a clinic. We were going to take her to a clinic to operate, because she was supposedly very bad, and they were going to take advantage of it from there, ”said Cabello, without showing any tests.
Last month the Venezuelan NGO justice, encounter and forgiveness denounced that San Miguel had more than seven months without receiving medical treatment for a fracture in the shoulder, which described as a serious violation of his human rights.
Hair insists that opponents’ departure was negotiated
On the rescue operation of the asylees Pedro Urruchurtu, Magalli Meda, Humberto Villalobos and Omar González – all of the team of the leader María Corina Machado -, Cabello insisted that her departure from the country was previously agreed with the Venezuelan authorities.

Both the opposition leader María Corina Machado and the United States government, who participated in the operation, have denied some type of negotiation with the Maduro government and have reiterated that it was an intelligence operation that was prepared for months.
Cabello was justified by saying that the departure of the opponents takes away a great weight from the Maduro government because they are no longer responsible for their safety.
«Today Venezuela took away a great weight from above because if Omar González, for example, who was one of the elders there, something happened to him to blame the Venezuelan government. Now those who took them take over and do not accept returns, ”he said.
Despite this last statement, he subsequently contradicted himself that the investigations against the opposition leaders are still standing. «They are protagonists and planning of that (Julio Acts). They conspired against Venezuela, ”said Cabello.
