As part of the celebration for the first anniversary of the Great Mission Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Humberto Fernández – Morán, the President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro Moros inaugurated on Wednesday, April 23, the first of eight nodes of the national Network of free Software development, which responds to the fourth Venezuelan vertex towards the digital transformation.
This space was installed at the Agroindustrial Territorial Polytechnic university of the Táchira state (Uptaiet), which will attend a registration of more than 2,000 students from the areas of computer science, electronics and electricity, as well as other young people interested in expanding their knowledge in the field.
The network responds to the strategic vision of applying knowledge, creating free technologies and promoting innovation to boost the 13 engines of the Bolivarian economic agenda, consolidating a national industry based on technological entrepreneurship.
The opening ceremony was led by Raúl Hernández, Deputy Minister for the Development of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry for Science and Technology, who said that in this node the training of 56 young people will be guaranteed in a period of one year, for four hours a day of studies, “making use of the free software development technologies, development of artificial intelligence models and their applications”, following the guidelines of the head of state.
He added that the first training cohort will begin the third week of May, in the eight headquarters nationwide of the National Free Software Development Network, so he invited interested young people to be aware of the information that will be provided for the registration process.
He specified that an interconnected network is being created at the national level between “all universities, the Miningt and the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Free Technologies of ALBA, which in a short term will generate the tools and systems that we require in our country.” In addition, it is planned to form and incorporate this network to about 15 thousand new professionals in a period of six years.
Meanwhile, the rector of this house of studies, Richard Pérez thanked the work and effort of the national government for consolidating the university management of Venezuela, opening the doors to technological development with future projection.
“This work academically impacts more than 2,000 computer students and a universe approximately 6 thousand students from the various careers,” he said.
For his part, Jibrany Olivares, university counselor and president of the FAE29 student movement, said that these training spaces are “very important for our students” and reiterated the President Maduro his commitment to accompany all the policies that are developed in favor of the nation.
