The Deputy Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, Rander Peña, participated in the day and highlighted the importance of keeping historical memory alive. Through his official Telegram channel, he said that “fascism continues to represent a latent threat in today’s world.”
“The fight against fascism was not in the past. Today more than ever we must remember the sacrifice of those heroes and assume the commitment to preserve peace. It is our responsibility to prevent future generations from facing the horror of war and oppression,” Peña said.
The mobilization concluded with calls to unity and active commitment in the preservation of the memory of those who fought Nazifascism. In addition, the day reaffirmed the conviction that the struggle for peace and justice is still in force and requires concrete actions.
The Russian ambassador, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, who was also present in the activity, highlighted the importance of keeping historical memory and the joint struggle against fascism and neo-Nazism alive, also highlighting solidarity between Russia and Venezuela.
The diplomat said that fighting fascism continues to be a challenge, even in the modern world, in which orientation is to create a multipolar world.
The commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Victory Day, in the Great Patria War, the victory of the Red Army over Nazifascism, is celebrated on May 9.
